The cost of complex care

Astute Home Care understands the challenges of coordinating care for your loved ones, especially when considering specialized complex care for health conditions. We strive to maintain clear and transparent pricing, aiding families in planning for the necessary care.

With a decade of experience, our highly personalised, one-to-one approach ensures clients can lead fulfilling lives in their own homes, making choices aligned with their lifestyle and maintaining independence.

Complex care entails person-centred support for individuals living with chronic conditions.

It represents a form of healthcare and support provided to individuals with chronic or long-term health conditions, offering additional assistance to manage their symptoms and daily tasks. Such conditions encompass neurological disorders, disabilities, injuries, and occasionally the use of feeding tubes.

Distinguishing itself from general domiciliary care, complex care typically incorporates some form of medical intervention and can be administered if an individual requires nursing care.

Anyone grappling with a long-term, progressive illness, or injury can find solace in complex care at home.

Supervised by our clinical nurse with years of medical experience and expertise in the community, we guarantee the implementation of an appropriate level of care tailored to your needs. This ensures that you can lead a fulfilling life despite your condition, surrounded by the comforts of your home.

We are adept at providing support for various conditions, including but not limited to:

• Spinal Cord Injury

• Catheter, bowel, stoma care

• Motor Neurone Disease

• Gastrostomy care

• Acquired Brain Injury

• Multiple Sclerosis

• Parkinson’s

• Huntington’s

• Stroke.

Live-in complex care starts at £1,500 per week for full-time care of eight hours a day. We offer various options catering to different levels of care, including conditions like spinal injury, multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's. Contact us and speak with our friendly team for a free, no-obligation home assessment.

Our complex care costs depend on a comprehensive evaluation of your loved one's needs. Notably, the costs of live-in complex care are comparable to those in care homes. Yet, the advantage lies in receiving specialised medical support within the comfort and safety of your home.

Our clinical director will meet with you to address your questions, creating a holistic complex care plan curated to your unique needs. We provide a transparent quote for weekly care costs, free from hidden fees.

You could potentially qualify for financial support from your local council to cover the expenses of complex home care, contingent upon your financial situation and care requirements. Social funding, known as complex care at home, is provided by your local authority only if your financial status falls below £23,500.

Upon completion of a care needs assessment and identification of a healthcare need, you might be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding. Should you deem yourself entitled to this funding, it is imperative to consult your GP. The GP will conduct an initial assessment and subsequently refer your case to the ICB for thorough consideration.

Numerous families encounter the challenge of self-funding the care they receive, referred to as self-funding care. For such families, financial avenues exist to support home care, such as opting for a Care Fees Annuity or engaging in an Equity Release scheme.

Delegated Healthcare Responsibilities

Our adept carers undergo thorough training to monitor and discern any shifts in your health, responding judiciously to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions. Equipped with specialised training, our carers can also manage tasks typically handled by a trained nurse and experienced health and social care professionals including:

• Bowel care and manual evacuation

• Administering insulin

• Flushing catheters

• Conducting PEG feeding

• Providing stoma and urostomy care

• Monitoring blood sugar levels

• Implementing rehabilitation programs

• Supervising prescribed exercise plans.

Continuity of Care

Unlike introductory home care agencies, we directly employ our carers. This ensures their commitment to us is reciprocated, granting them job security and benefits. This commitment translates to prolonged service, providing families with the assurance of a consistent care team for their loved ones, free from disruptions to their lives.

In-House Clinical Expertise

Our dedicated in-house clinical team includes a specialist district nurse, while our management team comprises seasoned health and social care professionals. These experts guide our carers in delivering safe and effective nurse-led care at home. Our clinical director collaborates closely with healthcare professionals, offering guidance and advice to enhance individuals' well-being in their homes with necessary equipment.

Fully-Managed Service

Families benefit from our expertly managed service, sparing them the responsibility of supervising and overseeing their loved one's care. Our professional carers operate under the supervision of an experienced nurse, with support available 24/7. We invest in our care management team to ensure they have ample time to provide the necessary support.

Bespoke care

We advocate for delivering bespoke care on a local scale. Operating throughout London and the Home Counties including Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey, and Sussex. Our dedicated clinical director handles a limited number of local clients, enabling them to offer heightened monitoring and support compared to other home care providers.
